Check the file: on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 FILE, on Windows certutil -hashfile FILE SHA256, and compare the result with the SHA-256 above.

The installers are not yet signed with an Apple or Microsoft certificate, so your computer shows a warning the first time you open FishMap. The install steps below explain what to do.

How to install

  1. Choose the file: Apple silicon for Macs with an M1 chip or newer, Universal for Intel Macs (it is twice the size).
  2. Open the DMG and drag MarineConnect Fishmap into Applications. If an older version is there, choose Replace. Do not open the app from the DMG window.
  3. Open the app from Applications. Because it is not yet notarized by Apple, macOS 15 and later may say it “can’t be opened” or offer to move it to the Bin. Open Terminal, paste this command, press Enter and open the app again:

xattr -cr "/Applications/MarineConnect Fishmap.app"

  1. Still blocked? Run this command too, then open the app again:

codesign --force --deep --sign - "/Applications/MarineConnect Fishmap.app"

  1. If you signed in on an earlier version, macOS asks to let FishMap use the sign-in saved in your Keychain. Enter your Mac password and choose Always Allow. The dialog can hide behind the app window.

System requirements

  • macOS

    Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) or an Intel processor, on an up-to-date version of macOS. Internet to sign in and to download sea data; trip downloads work offline.

  • Windows

    Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Internet to sign in and to download sea data; trip downloads work offline.

  • Linux

    x86-64: Debian 12+, Ubuntu 22.04+ or another distribution with the AppImage. The Linux version is new: tell us how it runs on your computer.

Intel Mac or not sure? Choose the universal version.
