FishMap Terms of Use
Effective 4 November 2026. These terms apply to the FishMap web and desktop apps provided by MarineConnect ("FishMap", the "Service"). Please read them carefully before signing in.
1. Accepting these terms
By signing in to or using FishMap you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you use FishMap on behalf of a company, cooperative or vessel owner, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation to these terms.
2. The FishMap service
FishMap provides oceanographic and marine weather maps, fishing ground and fish habitat suitability layers, measuring and zone tools, AIS history and an AI assistant for analysis.
Features may vary by plan, platform (web or desktop) and region. MarineConnect may update, add or retire features to improve the Service.
3. Not a navigation system
FishMap is a reference tool. It is NOT an official nautical chart and does NOT replace navigation equipment, vessel monitoring systems (VMS), radar, official weather bulletins or the judgement of the master.
You must always:
- Follow official forecasts, disaster warnings and instructions from the authorities before and during every trip.
- Carry and use the safety and communication equipment required by law.
- Take responsibility for decisions to sail, your route and the safety of your crew.
4. Forecasts and AI answers are for reference only
Fishing ground layers, habitat suitability, satellite data and AI assistant answers come from models and data sources that contain errors. They may be delayed, incomplete or wrong.
MarineConnect does not guarantee catches, the presence of any species or weather conditions at any location. Check information yourself before making decisions.
5. Fisheries and maritime law
You agree to use FishMap in line with fisheries and maritime law and the international rules that apply to you, including:
- Holding valid fishing licences and vessel registration, and keeping required monitoring equipment on.
- No illegal, unreported or unregulated (IUU) fishing, and no entry into other countries’ waters without permission.
- Respecting closed areas, seasons, protected species and size limits.
Boundaries, baselines and maritime zones shown on the map are for reference only and have no legal force in place of official government documents.
6. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your username, password and verification codes secret, and for all activity under your account. Do not share your account.
Tell MarineConnect straight away if you suspect unauthorised access. We may ask for extra verification or lock the account to protect you.
7. Prohibited use
When using FishMap you must not:
- Copy, resell, distribute or commercially exploit data or maps without written permission from MarineConnect.
- Use automated tools to bulk-collect data, scan, interfere with or overload the systems.
- Reverse engineer, bypass protections or access servers or other users’ accounts without permission.
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes or to harm others or the marine environment.
8. Data and privacy
To run the Service, MarineConnect processes account details, sign-in logs and the usage data it needs. Your location is only used when you allow it on your device.
In the desktop app, AIS history, the fishing log and the chat history shown in the app are stored locally on your computer. Questions you send to the AI assistant go through the FishMap server to an AI provider to generate answers. The FishMap server also keeps a copy of your AI conversations with your account for a limited time, to run and support the service and to check fish charges, and then deletes it.
We do not sell your personal data. It is shared only with infrastructure and data providers needed for the Service, or when the law requires it.
9. Third-party data and services
FishMap uses maps, weather and oceanographic data from partners and scientific data sources. That content belongs to its providers and is subject to their own terms.

10. Plans and payment
Some features need a paid plan. Prices, terms and benefits are shown when you subscribe or in your agreement with MarineConnect.
When a plan expires or is unpaid, the related features may be limited until it is renewed.
11. Intellectual property
The software, interface, models and the FishMap and MarineConnect brands belong to MarineConnect or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them while you use the Service.
Data you enter yourself (such as fishing zones and notes) remains yours. You allow MarineConnect to process it to provide the Service to you.
12. Limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, MarineConnect is not liable for indirect loss, lost catch, lost income, vessel damage, injury or loss arising from reliance on information in FishMap.
The Service may be interrupted by maintenance, lack of Internet at sea or events outside our control.
13. Suspension and termination
MarineConnect may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the law. You may stop using the Service at any time.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the Service or the law changes. The new version is shown in the app and you will be asked to accept it again when you sign in.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. Disputes are first settled by negotiation; failing that, they go to the competent authority under the law.
